Resources For Authors

The term self-publishing is a bit confusing. When I tell people I’ve self-published they assume I did everything, including the editing, proofreading, cover design, and formatting. This is not true in my case. I’m extremely fortunate and have worked with some fabulous people who are integral to my self-publishing career. To show my appreciation and to help authors find people who I recommend, I created this page. All of the people mentioned below have helped me on several projects and not once have they let me down.

JeriWB 03Jeri Walker is a freelance editor who I have worked with on several projects so far. She proofread two of my novels and has also critiqued and copyedited a third. Her insights and guidance are much appreciated and they help me take my writing to the next level. She has a Master’s Degree in English Education and has worked on the editorial staff of The Idaho Review, Boise State University’s literary journal. During that time she read approximately 100 short stories a month and assisted in copy editing stories by Ann Beattie, Edith Pearlman, Janet Peery, Joy Williams, Kali Fajardo-Anstine, Mary O’Connell, Stephen Dixon, and Robert Boswell. She has published short works and is working on her first novel.

Guido HenkelGuido Henkel is a fantastic e-book formatter and he has formatted all of my books for me. He always goes above and beyond what I expect and each book looks great. And when I have to make a change to a novel after publication, he gets me the new build quickly. I’m not a technical person and before I found Guido I was panicking about how I would get my books out there without looking like a complete idiot. His patience, technical know-how, and professionalism give me peace of mind.

cwp imageCyber Witch is a wonderful paperback formatter and she has formatted all of my books for me. When I approached her I didn’t know a thing about what information I needed to provide. She was so patient and explained things like trim size. She’s never happy until I am completely satisfied. Cyber Witch is a great resource and I’m so lucky that I found her.

biopicI’ve worked with a few cover artists, but Erin is now my go-to designer. Not only does she produce beautiful, high quality covers, but she does so at affordable rates. She’s always so cheerful and full of ideas. I like that she listens to me and then takes my ideas to places I couldn’t imagine on my own. I’m so glad that I found Erin and I hope to continue working with her for many years to come.
